SLA Issues Emergency Suspension For Hudson West Sports Bar LLC In...

Albany, NY – The New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) summarily suspended the liquor license of Hudson West Sports Bar LLC, located at 50 East Central Avenue in Pearl River. The suspension was ordered by Chair Lily Fan, Commissioner Edgar De Leon and Commissioner John Maya at a meeting of the Full Board on August 14, 2026. Effective immediately, no alcohol may be sold or consumed on the premises.

The emergency action follows an August 7 joint operation by the SLA Enforcement Bureau, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and Orangetown Police Department. Investigators estimated that approximately 70-100 patrons were inside the premises. Only 12 patrons were confirmed to be 21 or older, while at least 60 were under 21. SLA investigators allegedly observed bartenders sell alcohol directly to four minors and obtained signed statements from 13 additional minors admitting they consumed alcohol inside the premises. Several were only 16 or 17 years old.

Despite the August 7, operation, the premises advertised another event, beginning at 10:00 p.m. the following night August 8. At approximately 12:44 a.m. on August 9, Orangetown Police responded to a medical emergency and found a 16-year-old unconscious and severely intoxicated. A witness reported that the minor had been served multiple shots inside the premises without identification being checked at the point of sale. She was transported to Nyack Hospital.

“The evidence presented to the Authority alleges an alarming and continuing failure to protect underage patrons,” said SLA Chair Lily Fan. “When a 16-year-old is hospitalized just one night after a major enforcement operation uncovered widespread underage drinking, immediate action is necessary to protect public health and safety.”

The SLA has charged the licensee with multiple violations of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, including four counts of selling alcoholic beverages to minors and seven counts of failure to supervise. The SLA will promptly prosecute the charges, the maximum penalty for which is revocation of the license.

The State Administrative Procedure Act authorizes a state agency to summarily suspend a license when public health, safety or welfare requires emergency action. A summary suspension is not a final determination on the merits of the charges. The licensee is entitled to a prompt hearing before an Administrative Law Judge.
