Casella Waste Systems, Inc. Announces a Permit Expansion at Its Hakes C&D Landfill in New York

RUTLAND, Vt., Sept. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CWST), a regional solid waste, recycling and resource management services company, announced that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued a permit to expand its Hakes Construction and Demolition (“C&D”) Landfill located in Campbell, New York (“the Hakes Landfill”) disposal area by approximately 43.3 acres. The expansion provides an estimated 5.8 million cubic yards of additional disposal capacity.

The Hakes Landfill is currently permitted to accept up to 466,000 tons per year of C&D material.

“We are pleased to receive this expansion permit at our Hakes facility,” said Ned Coletta, President and CEO of Casella Waste Systems, Inc. “Reliable C&D disposal capacity is a critical component of New York State’s solid waste infrastructure, and we take pride in providing service that we believe supports the opportunity for broader regional economic growth. This expansion positions us to serve that demand while preserving valuable capacity across our municipal solid waste landfill network.”

“With this expansion combined with the current permitted airspace at the site, we expect to have approximately 20 years of capacity at current run-rates,” Coletta said.

The project also adds 21.7 acres to the existing on-site soil borrow area from which soils are excavated for landfill construction and operation. Further, this provides the opportunity for the Company to relocate and construct new infrastructure including leachate transfer and storage and gas collection and treatment systems.
